Description
21 and 23 Fairland Street are a pair of houses dating from the early 17th century, with an early 19th-century colourwashed brick exterior, while the underlying structure is timber-framed. The houses feature a pantile roof and are one storey high with a dormer attic. The facade is marked by two 20th-century doors and three 20th-century casement windows. The roof is gabled, with a sloping dormer on the left side (No. 23). There are internal gable-end stacks, with the southern stack dating from the 17th century but rebuilt, while the other stack is from the 19th century, as is the ridge stack located to the right of centre. Inside, the houses have chamfered and tongue-stopped bridging beams, and the roof is boarded, although 20th-century purlins are visible.
