Description
Nos. 5 and 7 on Fairland Street is a shop with a former house, dating from the early 18th century and raised in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of timber framing and brick, topped with a roof of black glazed pantiles. It has two storeys and an attic. The shop features a 20th-century glazed front with a central entrance. To the right, a door leads to the former manager's house (No. 7), which has a six-panelled door beneath a three-light overlight. The first floor is rendered and colourwashed, with two horned sash windows that have glazing bars. The building has a mansard roof with two dormers and an internal gable-end stack on the east side. The brick west gable shows tumbling to the former roof line, and there is an early 19th-century rear outshut. Inside, the structure is not visible, but there are boxed bridging beams on the ground floor.
