Description

A pair of cottages, dating approximately to the 1600s in the southern section and the 19th century in the northern section. The southern cottage is constructed of knapped, squared flint, while the northern cottage is of flint rubble with brick dressings. Both cottages have red pantiled roofs. The southern cottage has two ground-floor windows, one three-light and one two-light, and two first-floor two-light windows, all featuring 19th-century cast-iron casements with glazing bars. A partially blocked 17th-century long, low window is located on the first floor, along with a blocked fire window, and there is brick rustication. The southern gable has an end stack, and a ridge party wall stack is present. The northern cottage has one ground-floor three-light window and two first-floor two-light windows, with 19th-century cast-iron casements and glazing bars. The details are indicative of former cottages belonging to the Holkham estate.
