Description
Branthill Cottages are a pair of cottages dated 1834, constructed from pebble flint with red brick dressings and a slate roof. They stand at one and a half storeys tall, with each cottage comprising one bay. The entrances are located at the side and rear of the buildings. Features include a brick plinth, end quoins, and a dentil cornice, with quoins marking the party wall. The window openings are dressed and sit under cambered gauged brick arches. Each cottage has three-light cast iron casement windows with glazing bars, as well as dormers featuring two-light cast iron casements with glazing bars and wooden surrounds. The gables are coped and parapetted, topped with a central gault stack. These cottages are good examples of the Holkham Estate cottage type.
