Description

Branthill Cottages are a pair of cottages dating from around 1830. They are constructed from flint with gault brick dressings, and have a roof of smut pantiles. The cottages are two storeys and two bays, with lean-to porches and a low half-storey. They feature a brick plinth, a string course marking the first floor, and dentil brick eaves. Brick quoins are used at corners and around window openings. The ground floor has three-light iron casement windows with glazing bars, dating from the 19th century, set within quoined surrounds and under slightly cambered arches. The first floor windows are two-light cast iron casements with glazing bars, also with brick quoins and wooden lintels. The doors are part-glazed under cambered brick arches. A central stack serves the cottages. They are listed in conjunction with Nos 35 and 36 as characteristic examples of cottages built on the Holkham Estate.
