Description
East Lodge, also known as Palmer's Lodge, is a lodge house built in 1799 by the architect William Wyatt. It is constructed from gault brick, featuring Coade stone and stuccoed brick dressings and decorations. The central archway has a pediment supported by Doric pilasters, with brick niches and square panels situated between the pilasters. In the pediment, there is a Coade stone roundel that displays a crest surrounded by a laurel wreath, crafted by Berresconi. The lodge includes square brick side structures topped with pyramidal slate roofs and central chimneys. The window openings on the east and west sides have flat gauged arches. The entrance, which faces the road, features six panelled fielded doors. Additionally, there are Doric colonnaded links and a stuccoed and moulded cornice.
