Description

These are a pair of cottages, built in the first half of the 19th century. They are located on Copy's Green in Wighton. The cottages are constructed of random flint with red brick dressings and have a roof of black pantiles. Each cottage is one-and-a-half storeys high and has three bays, with a rear outshut. They feature brick quoins, dressings and eaves. The ground floor has tripartite iron casement windows with glazing bars, set within quoins and cambered, rubbed brick arches. Simple boarded doors are present. Each cottage has two dormers with wooden surrounds and gables, each containing a two-light iron casement window with glazing bars. Chimney stacks are located on the north gable, the party wall between the cottages, and off the ridge of the outshut. These cottages are well-preserved examples of early 19th century cottages built for the Holkham Estate.
