Description

This is a terrace of seven houses, originally nine, located on Southtown Road in Great Yarmouth, built in the 1850s. The houses are constructed of gault brick, with some areas stuccoed and colorwashed, and they feature a slate roof. The terrace is two storeys high and has a total of 15 windows. The central part of the terrace, which consists of three bays, projects forward and highlights the more prominent No. 274. The other houses each have two bays, with a round-arched doorway featuring a door beneath a plain fanlight, a window to the side under a gauged skewback arch, and two windows on the first floor. The terrace has a continuous parapet.

No. 274, which has three bays, includes a central door beneath a pediment, flanked by a window on each side, and three windows on the first floor. Most doors and top-hung casements are from the late 20th century, except for No. 271, which retains a 19th-century door with two glazed upper panels. Nos. 273 and 277 still have their original 2/2 horned sash windows. Each house has a gabled roof, with one gault-brick ridge stack per house, except for No. 274, which has had its stack removed. The north and south gables were truncated and rebuilt in the late 20th century. The interior has not been inspected. This terrace is included for its group value.
