Description

The workshop range located north of number 244A on Southtown Road in Great Yarmouth was built in 1855 for Admiralty barrack use. It has been used for commercial purposes since 1891 and was converted to light engineering works in 1971. The building is constructed of red brick and features Welsh slate roofs, arranged in a U-shaped plan around a courtyard. It is a single-storey structure with two remaining sash windows on the north side, while the rest of the windows are late 20th-century casements. The roof is gabled, with hipped ends. Inside, the roof is supported by king-post trusses.
