Description
This building is a workshop located at the rear of Number 18 Church Street, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a roof that is mostly covered with Welsh slate, although part of it is pantile, and it has a half-hipped design on the left side. The workshop is arranged in a U shape and has two storeys, with nearly continuous 9-light windows on the upper level. These windows are grouped into sets of three, separated by wider wooden mullions, and the panes within the tall lights overlap. There are similar windows on the ground floor and at the rear, which faces the garden of Number 18 Church Street. Doorways lead off from a small enclosed yard. This workshop is an unusual example of a small mid-19th century structure, likely built for stocking-frame knitters. It is included in the heritage listing for its group value.
