Description

This building, located at 161 King Street in Great Yarmouth, is a house that has been converted into a public house. It dates from the late 18th century and features colourwashed brick with a roof made of interlocking tiles. Originally three storeys high, it was raised to four storeys in the late 19th century. The front has a mid-20th century plate-glass shop front, and there is a canted window bay that extends through the first and second floors at the north end, featuring 6/6 unhorned side sashes and late 20th century top-hung casements on the front facets. The first-floor south window is a late 20th century casement, while the second-floor south window is an 8/8 unhorned sash set within an exposed box. The third floor has a 4/8 sash on the left and a 6/6 sash on the right, both with exposed boxes. The building has a gabled roof with an internal gable-end stack on the north side, and the south return has been completely rebuilt in the 20th century. There is also a two-storey rear wing added in the 20th century. The interior has little of interest on the ground floor, and the rest was not inspected.
