Description
Peggotty's Public House is a public house located on King Street in Great Yarmouth, dating from around 1830, with significant rear extensions added in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick with a gault brick facade and features a roof covered in red pantiles, which are black-glazed on the facade. It stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range.
The late 19th-century public house facade includes two doorways, pilasters with block entablatures, and multiply-paned windows. A fascia board is flanked by reeded consoles. On the first floor, there are three recessed 6/6 unhorned sash windows set beneath gauged skewback arches. The second floor features two similar 3/6 sash windows and a central blind window. The building has a dentilled eaves cornice and a gabled roof with two flat-topped dormers, each fitted with 3/6 unhorned sashes. There are internal gable-end stacks on both the north and south sides. The rear of the front block has late 20th-century top-hung imitation sashes. The interior was modernized in the late 20th century.
