Description
Old World Cottages is a house dated 1583, with alterations made in the early 18th century. It is constructed of brick and features a thatched roof. The south front has one storey and a dormer attic, with a central door set within a timber doorcase that has sunk quadrant mouldings, which are tongue stopped at the foot. There is a stepped brick plinth, and on either side of the door, there are two 20th-century casements. The gabled roof includes three through eaves dormers, each topped with gabled tiled roofs and casements.
The east and west gable ends are part of the original 1583 construction, with the east gable displaying a datestone from 1583 and the initials T.G.M.G. This gable features diamond brick chequerwork and brick kneelers, along with a 19th-century pantiled outshut attached to it. The gable parapets at this end have moulded kneelers. Internal gable end stacks, both rebuilt, rest on moulded bases, while the west gable was rebuilt in the early 18th century.
