Description
UPTON WITH THE WINDLE TG 31 SE FISHLEY (west side) 1/10002 Bullock shed, Whites Farm II Bullock Shed. Late C18 or early C19. Red brick in Flemish bond with hipped thatched roof Pantile roofs to outshut aisles. Two storeys. Rectangular in plan with roof of four bays; four bays formed by round-arched arcades opening into pens. Segmental-arched cart entrances to north and south faces, the former partly bricked in with a late Cl9 or early C20 buttress to one side. Close tumbling in to lean-to parapets. Stable doors to both aisles. Western lean-to, southmost bay rises more steeply than the rest and incorporates a covered staircase. Single windows under eaves in centre of each elevation, that to east blocked. Interior: provision for timber boarding to interior faces of brick arcade piers; only surviving board with Victorian period graffiti. First-floor with central trap door. Double roof with collars plus two tiers of wedge tenoned butt purlins. Lean-tos with tie and strut roof partly rebuilt, and wedge tenoned butt purlins.
