Description
The Church Stores is a house and shop built in the early 18th century. It features a red brick construction that is rendered and colourwashed, with black pantiled brick. The building has an 'L' shaped plan and consists of two storeys and an attic. The gable wall of the early 18th-century wing faces the road and has one window, along with an inserted door and sash windows that include glazing bars. The first-floor window is set within an original opening. There are moulded brick platbands on the east and west walls at the first-floor level. The building has curved gables on the north and south sides, with the north side featuring an internal gable stack. A gabled dormer on the west roof slope has a two-light casement window with glazing bars.
To the east is a mid-18th-century wing that is now rendered, with a three-window facade where the outer windows are blocked. The central sash windows also have glazing bars. The facade is adorned with giant pilasters with capitals at the outer margins, a moulded brick cornice, and a panelled parapet. At the rear, there are two and a half gables, and a central axial stack is located at the apex of the half-gable roof. The shop to the west is not of special interest.
