Description

The Stores is an early 18th-century house and shop, altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered and colourwashed brick with thatched roofs and has an L-shaped plan. The north-south section of the building is one storey high with a dormer attic. It has a door to the right of two segmental-headed casement windows. Garage doors close the facade to the north, and two symmetrically placed through-eaves dormers are visible. The roof is gabled, hipped to the north, with two ridge stacks. The south gable sits on kneelers but was truncated when a cross wing was added. This wing contains the shop and is two storeys high, with a segmental-headed, glazed 20th-century door flanked by 20th-century shop windows. A further door and 20th-century shop window are set against the west gable as an outshut. A 3-light 18th-century casement window is situated on the first floor of the north-south wing, and a similar window is located in the gable head. The cross wing has a gabled roof with an external west-end stack.
