Description

This is an early 18th-century brick barn located 100 metres east of Ludham Hall. It has a corrugated asbestos roof. The barn is nine bays long, with stepped buttresses set diagonally at the corners. Two additional buttresses were added in the late 18th century to the south gable. A platband runs across the middle of the barn’s elevation. There are two double doors, one of which is full height, along with two smaller pedestrian doors. Each bay contains two square honeycomb panels above and below the platband, two of which have been converted into windows. Three 20th-century windows interrupt the platband on the north side. The roof is hipped. The rear of the barn has been partly rebuilt. Inside, the barn is divided by brick walls. The roof structure consists of tie beams, principals, two tiers of purlins and collars, though many of the timbers have been replaced or altered.
