Description
Lyndale and The Cottage are a pair of estate cottages built in the late 19th century. They are constructed of red brick with gault brick dressings and feature a slate roof. The cottages are double fronted and consist of one and a half storeys, with an open single-storey lean-to porch situated between the projecting gabled wings. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed extension at the rear.
The gabled wings facing the road each have one window, with a single gabled dormer positioned between them. The original entrance doors under the porch on the north and south sides have been blocked, and new doors were added in the 20th century, facing the road. The northern house features two-light windows with wrought iron casements and glazing bars, along with two gabled dormers on either side. The dormers have single-light casements with hood moulds. The southern house has had its windows replaced with standard 20th-century joinery.
There are two axial stacks located at the intersections of the cross wings, each with three diagonally set square chimney shafts. The cottages also display wavy bargeboards and feature the V.W. monogram on the north and south sides for Vade-Walpole. They are included for their group value.
