Description
The Church of All Saints is a parish church located in Freethorpe, with medieval origins and later restorations, notably in 1850 for Henry Vade. It is constructed from flint with stone dressings and features plain tile and lead roofs. The church includes a west tower, south porch, north aisle, south aisle, nave, north chancel chapel, and chancel. The round tower, likely of Norman origin, is partially made of coursed flint and has a single light west window, belfry openings on the west and south sides, and a conical roof. The north aisle has two bays with offset buttresses, while the south aisle has three bays. The south porch is mainly from the 19th century, and the south doorway dates back to the 13th century, featuring a moulded base and roll mouldings. The gabled north chancel chapel, built around 1850, has a single light window in the north gable wall and a chimney on the northeast corner. The chancel consists of a single bay with a single light window to the south, which has a hood mould and sculpted label stops, and a two-light plate traceried east window. All windows are from the 19th century, and the church has parapet gables. The interior is predominantly from the 19th century, featuring a perpendicular tower arch, two bay north and south arcades, and an octagonal font bowl on a moulded base.
