Description
Lyndale Wayside is a pair of cottages that likely started as a single house. They probably date from the 16th century but were remodeled in the late 18th or early 19th century. A 20th-century lean-to is present on the right-hand gable. The cottages are constructed of rendered stone or cob and have a slated roof. There are two chimneys on the rear wall, with the northern one projecting and offset. The building is two storeys high.
Lyndale, on the left, has a two-window front with a central doorway that features a slated pent roof above it. The door is a four-panel design, with the two lower panels flush. Wayside, on the right, has irregular window placement, with two windows on the ground floor and one on the second floor. The doorway to the left of the gable, facing the road, has a bead-moulded wood frame and a plank door, which is accompanied by a half-door on strap hinges. There is a pent room above this doorway. All windows have 20th-century casements.
Inside, both cottages feature chamfered ceiling beams without stops. The beam over the dividing partition has three-quarter-round mouldings, and there are several plank doors with strap hinges. Other architectural features may be concealed under plaster.
