Description

A pair of cottages dating from the mid-19th century, situated on Beeleigh Road in Maldon. The cottages were constructed using red Flemish-bond brick, with a hipped L-plan slate roof, and a section at the rear built in Gault brick. The Beeleigh Road frontage features two 16-pane double-hung sash windows on the first floor, each with a segmental arch above. The ground floor mirrors this with two similar windows, alongside two entrances framed by semicircular-arched brick surrounds. The entrance to number 1 has two moulded panels above two flush panels. The Gate Street elevation presents two 16-pane double-hung sash windows on each floor. A curved corner connects the two streets, featuring brick corbelling above, and two stacks are situated on the party walls. A 20th-century extension is present on the northwest corner, and a flat-roofed balcony extension is on the rear. The interior was not inspected.
