Description

The icehouse at North Elmham, located at TF 98072171, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and some limestone, featuring an ovoid vault that is partially collapsed and visible above ground. There is a square opening at the top of the vault. A short barrel-vaulted passageway leads to the main vault, which has an arched entrance with two plain orders. The outer entrance, which was once similar in design, is flanked by swept buttressing walls topped with bullnose copings.
