Description
The Dovecote, dated 1840, is located in North Elmham at Elmham Park. It is constructed of brick and features a conical plaintile roof, with a circular plan. The structure has two storeys and four bays of windows, all of which are blind except for one that contains a fixed frame with glazing bars. A panelled door is topped with a flat hood supported by consoles, and there is a cast iron plaque for the Sonde family above the door. Midway up the dovecote, there are four double pigeon holes. The building is adorned with a moulded brick and dentil cornice. The roof is topped with a wooden cupola and a weather vane, which stands on four columns. Inside, there are nesting boxes for pigeons.
