Description
The monument, located 100 metres south of Friary House in Thetford, is a Grade II listed structure dating from 1807. It commemorates the site of an Augustinian Friary. The monument features a rectangular stone plinth that supports an urn adorned with swags. The urn has a gadrooned neck, and the plinth bears an inscription that reads: "IN VENERATION OF THIS CONSECRATED PLACE AND OF THESE ILLUSTRIOUS PERSONS (i.e., bodies found in vault) THIS ALTAR TOMB WAS ERECTED BY GEORGE BEAUCHAMP ESQ AD 1807."
