Description

Nuns Bridge North is a road bridge over the River Thet, built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of gault brick and features two elliptical arches with keyblocks, which are framed by pilaster strips. The bridge has cutwaters and splayed parapets topped with stone coping slabs. This bridge is the northernmost of a group of three bridges located at a historical crossing point of the Icknield Way, which has been in use since around 3000 BC.
