Description

Nuns Bridge South is a road bridge over the River Little Ouse, built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of gault brick with some red brick added. The bridge features two elliptical arches with a central cutwater, which are flanked by stepped buttresses on the downstream side. A plain brick parapet slopes outward towards the riverbanks, and the upstream side is similar in design. This bridge is located on the site of a crossing of the Icknield Way, which has been in use since around 3000 BC.
