Description
The building at 2, 2A, and 4 Magdalen Street comprises two houses and a shop, dating to the mid-19th century and altered in 1991. It is constructed of gault brick with a pantile roof. The building is two storeys high and features pilaster strips and a platband that divides the facade into a grid of six recessed panels. There are two six-panelled doors, each with an overlight and panelled reveals featuring reeded and fluted pilasters, and flat hoods above. Between the doors are single six-over-six horned sash windows to each house. A contemporary plate-glass shop front with a central door occupies the right-hand side of the building. The first floor has three horned sashes with six-over-six glazing. An eaves cornice incorporates paired modillions. The roof is gabled, with a panelled ridge stack and an internal gable-end stack to the west, also panelled. The north-east gable wall was rebuilt in 1991 following the demolition of number 6 Magdalen Street. The interior has not been inspected.
