Description

This is a mid-to-late 18th century house located on the south side of Fore Street in Old Hatfield. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a slate mansard roof with two sash dormers. It is two storeys and has attics. The front facade features two sash windows with flush frames, each set under a segmental head. A stucco floor band runs along the base of the building. A noteworthy doorcase is located on the left-hand side, featuring four fielded panels and two flush panels, supported by three-quarter wooden Doric columns with fluted necks, and topped with an entablature incorporating a miniature arcading on the top moulding of the cornice. An early lead drainpipe runs along the left end of the elevation, and includes fire insurance markers.
