Description

This is a late 18th-century house, although with a timber-framed rear section of earlier date. Constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof, it is a good example of late Palladian domestic architecture. The house is three storeys high and features four recessed sash windows with gauged brick lintels. A moulded wood cornice, decorated with modillions, runs below the parapet, and there is a first-floor band. The doorcase on the left-hand side, centrally positioned, is of Adam influence, featuring a six-panelled door with fielded panels and reveals. Above the door is a semicircular fanlight with radiating bars enclosed within an open pediment, and the doorcase is flanked by three-quarter Doric columns with fluted necking. A rainwater head on the rear elevation is dated 1826.
