Description

Old Forge Cottage is a house, originally a forge, dating from the late 16th century with extensions in the 17th century. It has three timber-framed bays and an exterior of painted brick, with the upper floor tile-hung in patterned courses. The roof is tiled, with a taller section to the south. A central square red brick stack is located on the north side. The house has two storeys and attics. There are five oak mullioned casement windows, and a hipped attic dormer. Internally, the centre bay features a moulded axial floor beam. The north bay contains a fireplace oven, which was formerly part of the forge. The south bay has chamfered floor beams and joists, along with a roof featuring straight wind braces.
