Description

Forge Cottage is a house that was formerly a forge, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with 19th to 20th century alterations. The building has a timber frame, with a plastered ground floor and a weatherboarded upper floor. It features a plain tile gable end roof and stands two storeys tall. The front has three 20th century glazing bar casements, and there is a 20th century lean-to on the left end. At the right end, there is a one-storey and attic bay, likely older than the main part, which includes a gabled eaves dormer. Inside, there is a central inglenook and an attached 17th century staircase. The right end has a lower ceiling and exposed close studding, while the upper floor's central bay showcases good exposed joists.
