Description

Nashes Farmhouse, which includes attached barns, is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, possibly with an earlier core. It was recased in red brick in 1888, as indicated by a date plaque on the west gable end. The building features a timber frame with a cemented and roughcast upper floor, and has a plain tile roof. It is two storeys high and has an L-shaped layout. The projecting west block is double pile with twin gable ends. There is a mid-17th century red brick stack located in the valley of the roof with three square shafts, and another 17th-century stack is attached to the front range.

The north elevation includes a two-storey range on the right, with a lower projecting stair tower in the center, cased in 18th-century red brick. To the left, there is a one-storey and attic range. Inside this part of the house, the upper floor displays one wall of Wealden framing, while the ground floor features an early 18th-century fireplace with rounded corners and a 17th-century staircase at the rear.

Attached to the west end of the farmhouse is a barn range. The nearest barn has a ground floor made of red brick from the 15th to 16th century and is likely the remains of an earlier farmhouse. It has a queen strut roof spanning two bays, with one gable end facing west and another projecting to the north. Adjacent to the west is a mid-19th century single-storey barn, which has flint walls dressed in red brick, and the south side features two stable doors and three casement windows.
