Description
The building is a barn located on the west side of the yard at Northwood Preparatory School, originally constructed in the 17th century and altered around 1980. It features a timber frame with a brick base and is weatherboarded with a tiled roof. The barn consists of five bays, with a central gabled midstrey and a roof that is hipped to the north. To the south, there is a two-storey former granary that spans two bays. Vertical fixed windows and rooflights were added during the 1980 alterations. Inside, the southern end has been converted into offices, while the original frame and walling have been retained. The interior includes straight braces to the tie beams, angled queen struts clasping the purlins, inserted collars, and curved braces in the granary.
