Description

This mile post, located on the towing path immediately south of the bridge carrying the A405 over the Grand Union Canal in Abbots Langley, dates from 1893. It was made by the London and Lancashire Engineering Company for the Grand Junction Canal and Company. The mile post is constructed from cast iron and features a rectangular plate with raised lettering that reads 'G.J.C.Co./BRAUNSTON/70 MILES'.
