14/201 Steps, walls and gates to Old Pleasure Grounds about 250m SE of Moor Park

GV II

Steps, walls and gates to SE of Moor Park (q.v.) leading up to Old Pleasure Grounds laid out by Capability Brown, c.1755-60. Late C19. Ashlar. Central flight of steps with piers at lower level to flanking walls all with moulded plinths and caps. At upper level walls break outwards with balustrades. End piers with banded rustication and scrolled buttresses. Walls return again to another pair of rusticated piers before a final break outwards. Wrought iron gates at top of steps.
