Description
Ye Olde Greene Manne Public House is a public house with origins dating back to the 16th or early 17th century. It was extended in the early to mid-18th century, late 19th century, and around 1930. The building features a timber frame that has been extended in brick, rendered, and whitewashed, with some applied timber. It has tiled roofs and retains one bay of an open hall, with a two-bay 18th-century block replacing the rest of the early structure.
The building is two storeys tall, with a steeply pitched roof on the early bay to the left, which includes a window in the gable end and a later chimney stack. To the right, two 18th-century bays have been added, featuring first-floor cross casements and applied timber framing, along with a moulded cornice. The ground floor has a late 19th-century projection that includes two entrances and a three-light casement window in the center, all under a bracketed hood. The outer sections have six-light timber mullion and transom casements with leaded panes, key blocks, and floating cornices, as well as rustication and end stacks.
To the right, there is a two-storey bay from around 1930, which has an entrance in a hipped porch and six-light casements. The roof over the three later bays is half-hipped, and there is a lean-to addition on the left return. Inside, the ground floor features a chamfered bearer, a cambered tie beam, and queen struts that clasp purlins.
