Description

This pair of gatepiers, gates, flanking walls, and central flight of steps is located 60 yards south of Gatcombe Court and dates from the early to mid-18th century. The gatepiers are square and made of panelled ashlar, featuring a moulded cornice and scrolled volutes on the sides. These volutes rest on flanking rubble quadrant walls that extend approximately 4 to 5 yards. The central flight consists of six steps with raised verges topped by ball finials. The gates are made of decorative wrought iron.
