Description

Gatcombe Farmhouse is a vernacular farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. Constructed of coursed rubble, it has a double Roman tiled roof with coped raised verges and a parapet. Brick stacks are also present. The house is arranged as 2 steep, coped gables, forming 2 storeys and attics. It has five bays, featuring 2-light casement windows with exposed lintels. A central gabled projecting porch has a panelled and studded door within an ogee and step moulded surround incorporating elaborate stops. There is a 2-storey, single-bay extension to the left. The interior retains stop-chamfered beams, and a panelled door in a room to the left is set within an ovolo moulded surround.
