Description

Belmont Lodge is an estate drive lodge dating from the early to mid-19th century, situated within Tyntesfield Park. Constructed of stone rubble, it features a gabled roof now covered in double Roman tiles and a stone axial stack with rebuilt red brick shafts set diagonally. The building is shaped like a ‘T’ with a porch facing the drive and a gate. It’s designed in a Picturesque Tudor Gothic style.

The east front is asymmetrical, with a projecting gable to the left, a central section projecting further, a lancet window at its apex, and an outshut to the south. A smaller gable sits to the right, featuring a canted bay window with a lancet above. To the north is a gabled porch with a four-centred arch doorway leading to a plank door with cover-moulds. A small canted bay facing the drive contains arched lancet windows and a mechanism for operating the gate. The rear (west) elevation mirrors the east, with a longer wing on the right. The interior has not been inspected. Belmont Lodge is a well-preserved example of the Picturesque Tudor Gothic style and is part of a series of estate buildings at Tyntesfield Park.
