Description

The walls and steps to the walled garden, located immediately west of Kingston Maurward House, date from the early 20th century. They are constructed of rock-faced ashlar and topped with open stone balustrades featuring turned balusters and moulded copings. Carved stone urns are placed at intervals along the balustrades, although some are missing. At the west end, the wall extends south of the main garden and includes a flight of stone steps. These steps have rock-faced balustrade walls capped by the same open balustrading. At the bottom of the upper flight, there are square piers with tall vase finials, while the lower flight features returned steps. At the east end of the main garden, facing the house, there is another flight of stone steps with stone balustrade walls. The bottom of these steps also has square piers with moulded caps and ball finials.
