Description

The Front Lodge to Oxhey Grange, dated 1908, is a single-storey building with an attic, constructed from red brick with ashlar dressings and featuring a tiled roof. The lodge is square in shape with diagonally cut corners and has a symmetrical front facing the drive. The central entrance includes a panelled door with a moulded ashlar surround and a bracketed stone hood, with a datestone positioned above.

On either side of the entrance, there are 6-light casement windows that wrap around the corners, consisting of two lights on the front, two on the splays, and two on the returns, all featuring leaded lights and chamfered stone mullions. A continuous string course runs above the lintels of these windows. The deep boxed eaves are interrupted by a central 4-light dormer that has chamfered stone mullions and a stone-coped gable. The roof is pyramidal and hipped to accommodate the splayed corners, with a cruciform central ridge stack.

Ashlar and string courses continue along the returns of the building. At the rear right, there is a 4-light casement window, with two additional windows on the return and two on the splay. Gabled dormers similar to those at the front are present on all elevations, and there is a 2-light casement on the left return. The rear features blocked windows. The interior has not been inspected.
