Description
Middle Lodge to Westwood Park is a lodge built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond with ashlar dressings and features a plain tiled roof. The building has a rectangular plan, with an external end stack to the south and a lateral stack to the east, both having grouped diagonal shafts. It is a single storey with an attic, which includes a half-dormer. The lodge has a chamfered stone plinth and a mottled sill string for the upper floor windows that extends around all sides.
Designed in a Jacobean style inspired by Flemish architecture, it features mullioned windows with leaded casements. The front facing the drive has two windows: a hipped, canted bay window on the right and a 2-light window on the left, which has a hoodmould. To the left, there is a half-dormer with three stepped lights and a shaped gable topped with a ball finial. The central left doorway has moulded jambs and a Tudor arch with a cornice. The shaped end gables are supported by stone kneelers and have moulded string copings and ball finials. Additionally, there is a Norwich Union fire insurance mark with the number 80585 located beneath the half-dormer on the front elevation.
