Description

The War Memorial Cross is located outside St Matthew's Church, which is also a Grade II-listed building. It features a tall granite wheel-head cross that rests on a large tapering granite plinth. The front face of the rough-hewn plinth has been smoothed and displays the names of those commemorated in applied metal lettering. The inscription reads, "TO LIVE IN HEARTS WE LEAVE BEHIND IS NOT TO DIE" followed by 128 names. The cross is positioned on a small pavement beside the churchyard path.
