Description

Frogmore House is a Grade II* listed building dating from 1716. This red brick house stands three storeys high and features hipped plain tile roofs. The road-facing side has a four-window range, while the formal south front displays five windows. The road front is distinguished by a moulded wood eaves cornice, with blank openings in the left bay of the ground floor and the two left bays above. The windows have gauged brick flat heads and exposed box sashes, with 19th-century sashes included. There are raised brick bands between the floors. A fine doorcase with fluted pilasters is set against a channelled rusticated surround, topped by a Doric frieze with relief-carved metopes. A flat hood is supported by ornately scrolled brackets, and a rainwater head is dated 1716. The south front has a rebuilt parapet, similar window arrangement, and brick bands, with small rectangular sunk panels above the ground and first-floor windows. The centre bay slightly projects, featuring a moulded wood doorcase with a modern flat hood on finely carved brackets. There is a projecting later extension on the ground floor's left side, and the north wall is rendered. Inside, the panelled hall includes an open well staircase with carved brackets, twisted balusters, and column newels.
