Description

Nos 12-15 on Harpenden Road is a terrace of houses arranged in an L shape, which includes a former clubhouse at the rear left. Built around 1890, the houses are constructed of red brick with bright red brick window heads and aprons, featuring patterned terracotta banding. The front elevation consists of two storeys, while the rear has one storey and attics. The front displays flanking gable ends and two eaves gables in the center, all of which feature open timber work. There are four three-light glazing bar casements. Timbered tiled porches are located on the left and right center, with similar porches in the projecting gable ends on the side elevations of Nos 12 and 15. Behind No 15 is a two-arch loggia from the former 'One Bell' public house, which later became the Childwick Bury Club. At the back, there is a four-window hall with two gabled attic dormers.
