Description
Nos. 7 to 12 Leazes Place is a terrace of houses built around 1840. The buildings are constructed of English garden wall bond brick, featuring a painted ashlar basement plinth, ashlar quoins, and dressings. They have a Welsh slate roof and cast iron area railings. Each house has a basement, with two storeys and two bays, except for No. 12, which has a right return to Claypath and three bays, making a total of 13 bays. The houses have six-panelled doors with overlights; those at Nos. 8, 10, and 12 include glazing bars and are set in Tuscan doorcases, while No. 12 features fluted pilasters with a Greek key frieze and cornice. The windows have wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills, with sashes that include glazing bars. Notably, No. 8 has a large first-floor oriel window. The hipped roof on the right has ridge brick chimneys. The spear-headed area railings are set in chamfered dwarf walls for Nos. 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11, all of which include rear stays and some have gate-post panels.
