Description

No. 47 Claypath is a house dating from the early 18th century. It features painted incised stucco and a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and two windows. There is a five-panelled door with an overlight located to the right, framed by a wide architrave. The plain sashes have projecting painted sills and stop-chamfered reveals. The roof is steeply pitched with swept eaves and a truncated rendered chimney on the right side. A foot-scraper is inset beside the door. Inside, there is a grip handrail leading to a renewed stair balustrade, and two-panelled doors set in architraves. The principal room on the first floor contains a tall cupboard with double doors in a keyed arch surround and thick shaped shelves. The house is included for its group value.
