Description
Childwick Lodge is a house built in 1897 as the lodge for Childwick Bury for Sir John Blundel Maple. It is constructed of red brick with cream terracotta dressings and features a Delabole slate roof, designed in the Jacobean style. The building has a roughly T-shaped plan and includes a prominent stair turret facing the road, topped with a conical roof and chequered stonework beneath the eaves. There are tall chimney stacks with clustered cut-brick shafts, and the gables facing the road and drive are parapeted, each adorned with ornate terracotta panels flanked by crests and topped with obelisk finials. Continuous terracotta bands run along the plinth, first floor, and eaves. The building also features long and short quoins and 2 and 3 light mullioned casements. A porch on the right front has a door with a 4-centred arch.
