Description
St Brighids is a house located on the north side of Sollershott West, built in 1908 by architects B Parker and R Unwin. It features a unique 'butterfly' plan, with design and detailing by S Pointon-Taylor. The layout includes a central octagonal garden room, flanked by a living room and a dining room. A large studio room was added at the rear around 1914, creating a Y-plan configuration. Further additions by B Parker in 1923 included a garage and another studio. The house is one and a half storeys tall, with a symmetrical corner front that has a central gable and is flanked by brick chimney stacks. It has tiled roofs with flat-roofed dormers added in 1914. The walls are rendered, and there are mullioned casement windows with leaded lights and tiled labels. The main entrance features a wide arched doorway, and the interior boasts good joinery and fittings.
