Description

Treetops is a house of 1910, designed by Barry Parker and R Unwin. It is a significant example of its type, with Barry Parker the principal designer. The house features an open plan layout, dominated by a central cruciform living room with a prominent inglenook fireplace, balanced by a dining recess. Projecting wings accommodate the kitchen and outhouses, set beneath a roof with a downward slope, and are counterbalanced by a den and the staircase. A garage extension was added in 1935, also by Barry Parker. The house is two storeys and has a three-bay front with a recessed porch positioned centrally between two slightly projecting wings. A hipped tiled roof is topped with plain rectangular brick stacks. The walls are of roughcast brick, with leaded casement windows featuring mullions and reinforced concrete frames, which are set within brick relieving arches. The porch displays exposed studding. The interior features stained doors, timberwork, and whitewashed brick.
